Glowing Mountain Dew

Glowing Mountain Dew

Glow in the dark Mountain Dew

Recently my friend and I decided to try making glow in the dark Mountain Dew based on a picture that has been circulating the Internet. I believe the picture originated from a YouTube video. Based on seeing the picture I needed to try this out right away. My friend and I headed off to the local supermarket to get the supplies we needed. This shopping trip consisted of us buying a six pack of bottled Mountain Dew, one box of Baking Soda, and 1 bottle of peroxide among other random things we bought that have nothing to do with this experiment.

We had our supplies so I quickly downed the Mountain Dew to 1/4 of the bottle and then we added the baking soda and the 3 caps of peroxide. The baking soda caused the Mountain Dew to fizz a little bit when it was dropped in but nothing major happened. I shook the bottle up and waited to see the results, and to my amazement ….. nothing happened.

We tried many different combinations none worked, eventually we gave up.  Later on we ended up searching more about this glowing Mountain Dew to try to figure out why it didn’t work. This lead us to find out that this was all a hoax and no one has been able to replicate this glowing Mountain Dew recipe.

All in all even though it did not work it was a blast to try. The simplest way to make a bottle of Mountain Dew glow is just put a flashlight under it.

Here is the video on YouTube on how to make it.
