Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Eggs

Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Eggs
Peanut Butter Cup

I woke up the other day and was feeling inspired I wanted to try something. I pulled out my phone and loaded up Pinterest. I decided to try and make this pin (http://pinterest.com/pin/281123201711573950/) but I wanted to add a twist. The twist I added was that I was going to try to make them using some silicone muffin wrappers and see if I could duplicate Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. I made some changes here and there but I stuck to the original recipe from the pin linked above. Here is my version on how to make them.

Ingredients you will need

  1. In a large bowl add the 4 cups of powdered sugar, 1 1/2  cups of creamy peanut butter, and the 1/4 cup of melted butter or margarine. Mix it all together with an electric mixer as it becomes mixed together add the milk one tablespoon at a time until everything looks like cookie dough.
  2. Now you will take the contents that you just mixed together and you can make them into balls, eggs, or you can do what I did and use the  silicone muffin wrappers to make them look like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups make sure you squeeze them well as they can fall apart when you try to dip them in the chocolate later on.
  3. Now that you have placed them into what ever shapes you want put them on wax paper and put them in the freezer so they will get nice and hard. I left mine in the freezer for quite some time as in 4 hours. The original instructions say to leave them in the freezer for about an hour.
  4. After they are frozen. They wont get rock hard and that is ok. We are going to start work on the chocolate coating. What we need to do is put the 3 cups of chocolate chips and the 1 tablespoon of shortening in large glass bowl and microwave them 1 minute at a time make sure you are stirring the chocolate after every minute. With my microwave, 3 minutes was the perfect amount of time to get everything all nice and melted.
  5. Now what we are going to do is dip the peanut butter shapes you made that are in the freezer into the chocolate. You might be asking yourself how am I suppose to do that? Well what I did is I used a pointy chopstick and stabbed them all the way thought make sure you stab them in the middle as if you don’t you may cause them to break.
  6. What I did next was put them back in the freezer to let the chocolate harden quicker (I left them overnight).
  7. Now you can either eat them frozen as they are not rock hard or you can take them out of the freezer and let them get back to room temperature and enjoy them.

I loved these so much I plan to make them again.
